Charity

Here, at St Francis, we are committed to supporting charities throughout the year. We hold a variety of events and special days to support a wide range of both global and local charities as well as ones chosen by the children. Some of the events are organised by year groups and some by the whole school.

Every year in Autumn Term we collect harvest donations for local charities like Crawley Open House or FreeShop in Bewbush, but we also remember about those in need across the world by supporting CAFOD.

Our Y6 students do not forget about serving and ex-serving personnel and support the Poppy Appeal in November by selling poppies, wrist-bands and other accessories.

Y:AMHS, which stands for Youth: Action for Mental Health Support, is a local charity that is close to our hearts. They help children and young people living in and around Crawley. Their aim is to make sure mental health treatment is there for children and young people, when they need it, as soon as they need it. As a school, we often take part in their fundraising events by singing in the County Mall during Christmas Launch and Mental Health Awareness Week.

Our annual Carol Service held at the Friary Church is another opportunity to support our catholic community by collecting funds for the St Vincent De Paul Society, or Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes.

In February 2024 we GO RED for Heart Month in aid of the British Heart Foundation.

PLACE2BE - children's Mental Health Week. This year's theme is 'MY VOICE MATTERS'. It is about empowering children and young people by providing them with tools they need to express themselves. At St Francis, we support this charity by organising a 'Dress to Express Day'.

During Lent, we fundraise for Mission Together, which is part of the charity Missio.

In Summer Term we hold an own clothes day in return of a small donation to support Catholic Children Society. We also organise clothing collection for The Salvation Army.

Our school choir take part in various charity events like 'Together in Song' - a charity Concert in aid of Crawley Open House and YMCA Chaplaincy, singing for the residents of St Catherine's Hospice and local care/nursing homes. ll take place from 5–11 February 2024.
