Year 6 information
SATS
Key Stage 2 (KS2) SATs are standardised assessments administered to Year 6 pupils in England. These tests evaluate proficiency in English and Mathematics, providing insights into a child's academic progress and the school's educational performance.
In 2025, KS2 SATs are scheduled from Monday, 12th May to Thursday, 15th May. During this period, students will undertake assessments in:
- English Reading
- English Grammar, Punctuation, and Spelling
- Mathematics
These tests are conducted under formal exam conditions and are externally marked to ensure consistency and fairness. Results are typically released towards the end of the summer term and are shared with parents to inform them of their child's attainment levels.
For more detailed information, including access to past papers and preparation materials, please visit the official government website.
Reading and support at home
Please ensure that your child reads as much as possible at home each week and that this is recorded in their Reading Record. Children may record in their Reading Record independently. Reading Records should be brought in weekly to be checked.
Parents can support their children’s SATs preparation by using revision books, encouraging regular practice on online platforms such as Times Table Rock Stars and Spelling shed, as well as promoting daily reading. These resources help reinforce key skills in maths, spelling, and comprehension. Setting a routine with short, focused study sessions can boost confidence and progress.
PE days
P.E. lessons will take place on Thursdays and Fridays. Please ensure your child has the correct PE uniform in line with the school policy.
Mobile phones
Please refer to the school’s mobile phone policy in the ‘Key Information’ section of the website. Any child seen using their mobile phone for any other reason than to contact parents at the end of the day will have their permission revoked.
We look forward to working with your child and supporting them in the final year of primary school.
